SWAT 771 Robotics Demonstration & STEM Activities

Join SWAT 771, an all‑girls high school robotics team from St. Mildred’s‑Lightbourn School in Oakville, as they showcase their robot built for the FIRST Robotics Competition.

Founded in 2001, SWAT 771 is one of Canada’s longest‑running all‑girls robotics teams. For more information, check out their website 

Through hands‑on engineering, programming, teamwork, and leadership, the team empowers young women in STEM while competing at regional events and delivering outreach programs to youth in the community.

This interactive program invites participants of all ages to explore robotics and STEM through engaging demonstrations and activities, including:

• Test driving a robot equipped with a swerve drivetrain
• A reading of SWAT 771’s original book Millie Finds a Wrench
• Creating a ring out of electrical tape
• Programming a LEGO EV3 robot
• Learn about the FIRST Robotics Competition and the SWAT 771 team
• A quick introduction to 3D design using Tinkercad
• Guided discussion on equity, diversity, and inclusion in STEM
