AuditoriumJoin us for an engaging hands-on introduction to Python, one of the world's most beginner friendly programming languages! Designed for those with little to no prior coding experience. Age 8-12
You will learn Python fundamentals, including syntax, variables, loops, and lists. By the end, you will apply your skills to create a small program or game, giving you a taste of what is possible with coding.
A fantastic first step into the world of programming!
This workshop is led by volunteers from STEM from Scratch, a high school student-led organization providing STEM opportunities to students.
What you will learn:
- Basic python syntax and data types
- How to use conditionals and loops
- How to store and modify date with lists
- How to build a simple project
Requirements
- A laptop (participants must bring their own)
- An HDSB school email (for Replit access)
- No prior experience necessary
Who should attend:
- Curious beginners aged 8-12
- Students interested in coding and haven't tried it
Parents/Guardians are required to stay in the library for the duration of the program if your child is younger than 10 years of age.
