The Mississaugas of the Credit are the treaty partners of the current community of Oakville, located on the lands covered by Treaties #14 and #22. This virtual session offers an opportunity to learn more about the Mississaugas of the Credit and the histories and meanings of these treaties.
Many may not realize that the Head of the Lake Treaty (Treaty #14) was negotiated immediately after the Toronto Purchase, or that Treaty #22 is a trust. Darin will discuss the significance and legacy of these treaties and share his perspective on Reconciliation, emphasizing respect for the spirit of the treaties and collaboration toward shared understanding. A Q&A will follow the presentation.
