Read aloud to a St. John Ambulance-trained therapy dog to build enthusiasm and confidence! Each session is 20 minutes long. (Ages 6-9)
In this program, children are paired with a St. John Ambulance-trained, child-certified therapy dog and the dog's handler. Children select reading materials that are interesting to them and will read aloud to the therapy dog, which supports building confidence in reading skills and inspiring a love of reading. This program is appropriate for all children just learning to read, but is especially suited to the reluctant reader, or a reader who lacks confidence in their literacy skills.
Each session is 20 minutes in length - participants should arrive 10 minutes before their scheduled time and have their chosen reading materials with them, ready to read!
Skills Learned: Communication, Literacy, Flexibility, Social Skills
