November is Financial Literacy Month and so we are bringing CPA Canada’s financial literacy programs to the library. Each topic focuses on teaching kids the basic concepts and skills needed to make smart financial decisions. Through interactive activities, case studies, and a question and answer period, children will gain a better understanding of money matters which will help them get started towards a financially bright future.
Bartering: Different items have different values (i.e., you cannot compare one apple to one pound of wheat). Money places a specific value on items and solves this issue.
Gloria Madekic is a member of CPA Canada - the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada. Gloria is also an Inspection Leader for the Canadian Public Accountability Board (CPAB), whose role is to oversee public accounting firms that audit Canadian reporting issuers. She has considerable knowledge of the Canadian Auditing Standards, IFRS accounting standards and audit experience of Canadian reporting issuers. Gloria spent almost three years working in the US for one of the largest audit and accounting firms in the world.
