Facilitator Bio
Joy is a member of Six Nations of the Grand River and of Seneca ancestry, with Haudenosaunee and Chippewa roots on her maternal side and English and Scottish ancestry on her paternal side. Her identity and creative work are deeply connected to her family, culture, and the teachings passed down through generations.
Joy has been beading for over five years, learning primarily from her mother, who was a beader throughout her upbringing. Through this connection, she carries forward both skill and tradition, continuing a practice rooted in patience, care, and cultural expression.
Her beadwork is inspired by the land and all our relations, reflecting a deep respect for nature, connection, and story. Through her art, Joy honours her heritage while creating meaningful pieces that carry both beauty and intention.
