Social Skills: Friendships and Relationships

Program Room 1This program focuses on fostering friendship, positive social behaviours, active listening, and effective communication, while teaching social norms and skills.
Presented by the Center for Diverse Learners, this program aims to support teens looking to improve peer connections, especially those who are shy, immature, or struggle with self -esteem. Skills will be taught weekly through group discussions, play-based activities, team-building games, and role playing, allowing teens to collaborate with similar peers.
Participants may or may not have a neurodiverse diagnosis.

Located within the Glen Abbey Community Centre in northwest Oakville, Glen Abbey Branch is Oakville Public Library’s busiest location and serves over 350,000 customers per year. As a community and cultural hub in north Oakville, the branch offers several rooms available for booking and hosts a variety of programming for all-ages that inspires creativity. Parking is free.
