Program RoomJoin Varsha Vaishali, Founder of Cyber Harassment Support (CHS), for a practical, easy-to-follow session on staying safe in today’s digital world.
We’ll talk about common scams targeting older adults (phone, text, email, WhatsApp and romance scams), sextortion and identity theft, and new risks like AI deepfakes, all explained in simple language with real-life examples. Participants will learn how to spot red flags, protect their devices and accounts, and what to do if something goes wrong. You’ll leave with a clear safety checklist and information on where to get help in Oakville and beyond.
This session will also include a short overview of Canadian data protection awareness, privacy, consent, scam prevention, and practical tips for protecting personal information online.

Located within the Iroquois Ridge Community Centre, Iroquois Ridge Branch is home to a large collection of materials, study spaces, and a Creation Zone. The branch hosts a variety of programs for all ages, with a particular focus on new and emerging technologies, such as virtual reality and Tinker Toys. Parking is free.
