Join us for an engaging and hands-on introduction to Python, the most beginner friendly programming language! This workshop is designed for those with little to no prior coding experience. Ages 10-14
You’ll learn the fundamentals of Python, including basic syntax, data types, lists, dictionaries, and loops. By the end of the session, you’ll apply your new skills to create a small program or game, giving you a taste of what you can achieve with programming. This workshop is a great starting point for anyone interested in exploring the world of coding.
This workshop is being led by volunteers from STEM from Scratch, a high school student-led organization providing STEM-related opportunities to students across Halton.
Pizza and snacks will be provided in the workshop.
What You’ll Learn:
- Basic Python syntax and data types
- How to work with lists and dictionaries
- Using loops to automate repetitive tasks
- Creating a simple program or game
Requirements:
- A laptop with internet access (If not available, will be provided)
- An HDSB school email login (required to access Replit, the online coding platform we’ll be using)
- No prior coding experience necessary
Who Should Attend:
- Students and beginners interested in learning the basics of Python programming
- Anyone looking to build a foundation in coding
