Join us for this opportunity to learn more about Oakville's Black History. Ages 13 and up.
Journalist Genelle Levy will discuss the rich Black history that permeates Oakville's history, how it questions the idea of who deserves to be called Canadian, and how the decolonization of history helps everyone.

About our Speaker:
Genelle Levy is a journalist who has contributed to over 20+ publications including national newspapers and magazines such as The Guardian, NBC News, Conde Nast and CBC News. She covers social inequality and in 2020 her piece, "Ontarians Should Know More About The Black History of Oakville" went viral. Her experience growing up in Burlington and Oakville allowed her to inform and interrogate her identity. Alongside her journalistic work, Genelle also teaches news and feature writing at Toronto Metropolitan University and Humber Polytechnic.
