You are invited to a panel discussion and public Q&A session about Oakville Public Library’s journey to New Central Branch.

From Oakville Public Library's heritage, we welcome George Farrow and Ron Baird to discuss the Central Branch's original build and artistic features. Looking on the horizon, the pair will be joined by Andrew Frontini who is the lead Architect for the New Central Branch project.

George Farrow: Farrow (90), original architect of Oakville Public Library Central Branch, is a self-published author and illustrator, wood carving expert and community advocate at the Rotary Club of Oakville. His debut autobiographical children’s book, Miss Lizzy: A Journey Through Time, is now available at Oakville Public Library.

Ron Baird: Baird is one of Canada’s most renowned sculptors having executed over 300 public, corporate and private commissions. His works are in many public parks, churches, synagogues, community centres, libraries, and government buildings. His works are currently featured at Oakville Public Library Central Branch.

Andrew Frontini: Frontini is the Principal and Design Director for Perkins&Will, the architecture firm recently awarded the design of the New Central Branch. His award-winning designs for universities, municipalities, library systems and commercial clients have been published internationally.

About the branch

Central Branch is the largest of Oakville Public Library’s seven locations. Located in downtown Oakville, it spans three floors of adult and children’s collections, the local and family history collections in the Oakville Room, with spacious meeting and study spaces. Central Branch also serves as the library’s administrative headquarters and shares space with Oakville Galleries. Just steps from Sixteen Mile Creek and Lake Ontario, the branch offers scenic views and a welcoming environment for learning and community connection. With a new facility slated for 2028, the new Central Branch is set to become a landmark building for Downtown Oakville. Guided by community insight, the redesigned library branch will offer flexible and accessible spaces that celebrate Oakville’s history, support lifelong learning, and promote community connections.
